This award is incredibly meaningful to me because I have so much passion for spreading awareness and educating people about the importance of nutrition, fitness, stress management, and making healthy lifestyle choices.
We live in tough times. We are in the middle of many health crises--mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. Restoring balance, to me, is not an option or a luxury: it is an absolute necessity for anyone who wants to live a long and healthy life full of joy.
Before I began my own journey back to wellness, I was really in the dark about the topics of health and disease--why some seemingly unhealthy people never get sick and why some poster-children for health develop debilitating diseases. I had no idea how what people eat and why they choose certain foods has much more to do with issues in other areas of life as well as environmental, political, and societal influences than the mere acts of food shopping and preparing meals. The changes I have experienced in my own personal life were eye opening...but once I began this education and started working with other people who experienced their own dramatic life changes, I knew that this is the real deal. I felt like I had found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...I had learned the secret...and it is my privilege and responsibility to share it all.
The Institute for Integrative Nutrition did a beautiful write up for me on their website today when they announced my award. It is my honor to share it with you. Click below:
Thank you to Joshua Rosenthal, founder and director of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, as well as the other amazing educators who I had the honor to learn from, to my own health coach Kat Ogar, for all of her words of wisdom and support, to my classmates, clients, friends, and of course to Chef Joe, our girls, and our family.
